How to Make a Perfect Matcha Latte

Ready to give matcha a try? 

Here's a simple recipe for a delicious matcha latte:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp high-quality culinary grade matcha powder
  • 1 oz hot water (not boiling, around 175°F/80°C)
  • 6-8 oz plant milk of your choice (make it yourself with nut butter)
  • Sweetener to taste (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a cup or bowl to remove any clumps. You can use a the traditional bamboo matcha whisk, or "chasen", a baloom wire whisk or an electric whisk.
  2. Add the hot water and whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and slightly frothy.
  3. Heat and froth your milk of choice.
  4. Pour the frothed milk over the matcha mixture (or the other way around ;)
  5. Add sweetener if desired, and enjoy your perfect matcha latte!
